The Goose Has Something to Say

Hi everyone!

Welcome to Devlog 5! 🎵

This weeks we’ve focused on polishing the experience—making the world feel more alive, reactive, and just a little bit sassier (thanks to the goose’s iconic HONK). We also gave the lobby some much-needed attention to reflect the player’s progress more clearly.

Let’s jump in! (if you’re allowed to, that is)

# Goose with Attitude: New SFX!

Our goose has found its voice—and it’s loud.

We’ve added new sound effects to make actions more expressive and intuitive. You’ll now hear:

  • A HONK when you try to jump but haven’t unlocked the ability yet. The goose protests… dramatically.

  • A HONK of doom when you’re defeated by a fireball. It's tragic. It’s emotional. It’s… kind of funny.

  • A happy flap-honk when jumping becomes available—our goose is ready.

  • A mystical whoosh sound when the goose touches a statue, marking an important moment in gameplay progression.

These SFX breathe life into our feathered protagonist and make interactions more satisfying and memorable. Every HONK now means something.

# The Lobby Gets Smart

We’ve also improved the lobby, which now responds more dynamically to your achievements:

  • All buttons now start visually deactivated—no more guesswork about what’s available.

  • Beat Level 1 (where you unlock jump)? The Settings button lights up and becomes accessible!

  • Defeat the miniboss in Level 2? The Credits button unlocks as your reward!

This progression-based unlocking not only reflects your journey but sets the stage for even bigger surprises in future levels.

# What’s Next?

Here’s a little sneak peek at what’s coming soon in Devlog 6:

  • Visual Novel-style dialogue overlays at the start of each level, adding rich story and personality to the goose’s journey.

  •  A credits final level, where flying letters must be dodged like a bullet-hell epilogue.

Thanks again for honking along with us as we bring this world to life.
The goose is learning. The world is changing. And the HONK is getting stronger.
